Olive Oil can prevent brain tumor

Olive oil has been considered as a healthier edible oil for a long time. A study published at the University of Edinburgh in the UK suggests that oleic acid in olive oil can help produce a cell that can inhibit brain tumors. The study has brought new ideas to prevent such cancer.

Oleic acid is a monounsaturated fatty acid, present in the animal and plant body.It is also one of the main component of olive oil. Researchers in-depth analysis of this material, the results found that oleic acid can make a protein called MSI2 continue to produce miR-7 molecules, which is very active in the human brain, can inhibit tumor formation.


The researchers said the findings suggest that oleic acid can play a leading role in the production of tumor suppressor molecules in cells. Scientists can have further study the role of olive oil in brain health. However,it should be further studied that whether long-term consumption of olive oil is indeed helpful in the prevention of brain tumors.
